REMIT

Secure Planning Permission and implement the construction of a new brewery facility on the A29 Stane Street Strategic Route, including the formalisation of a new access to serve all the traffic.

BACKGROUND

RGP assisted on this project from the initial design concept stage, advising on the suitability of the site for the relocation of the brewery facility, through to the detailed design and construction of the access arrangements.

RGP’S APPROACH

RGP were introduced to the project at a very early stage allowing an efficient process in communicating with the Highway Authority, through pre-application discussions, and securing agreement on the access arrangements, parking provisions and the traffic implications at the initial concept stage, avoiding design changes to the site layout.

The approval from the Highway Authority at this stage allowed for a straight forward recommendation for approval during the planning application and a quick turnaround of a planning decision.

Following planning permission, RGP continued the project through the detailed design stage, including the design of the access road, including the retention of an open watercourse across the access though the design of culverts and headwalls, and completion of the Section 278 Agreement process.

RGP was also able to assist during the construction phase in a site supervision role, including input to the Construction Management Plan and support to the Contractor as required.

This was achieved through a review of traffic flow data and preparation of swept path drawings, based on the operator’s bespoke delivery vehicle specifications.
