To design and obtain technical approval for a new junction on the A259 and other highway improvements to provide access to a residential development.
RGP had previously provided transport planning services to support an outline planning application for this development of 157 dwellings. RGP were subsequently instructed to prepare a detailed design for the proposed junction which included realigning and re-profiling the A259 and widening a secondary road close to a railway crossing. Other constrains included an existing watercourse a limited highway corridor and an existing mobile phone mast.
Using skills acquired from a wide experience of similar detailed design projects and with an excellent knowledge of the internal workings of a local highway authority, RGP was able to secure technical approval by engaging and working closely with the highway authority and Network Rail. This ensured that the works had no impact on third parties and restricted the amount of land take within the development site thereby minimising the cost of the works for the developer.
