St Wilfrid’s Hospice

RGP was commissioned on behalf of St. Wilfrid’s Hospice to support a planning application for the development of a proposed hospice site on Walton Lane, Bosham, West Sussex. The proposal entailed the provision of an 18 bed hospice and treatment centre, with associated car parking and access. The existing site was occupied by an agricultural nursery which had been defunct for a number of years. The existing site did not provide a safe means of pedestrian access which needed to addressed as part of the hospice application.
BACKGROUND
To create a safe pedestrian access for future users of the site RGP worked closely with statutory highway consultees West Sussex County Council in designing an appropriate scheme that would offer suitable and safe pedestrian environment for future staff and patients, and existing pedestrians. A new section of footway and safety improvement to the existing crossing facilities in the vicinity of the Walton Lane / A259 road junction were accordingly proposed. Through this process an in-principle agreement with the local highway authority was achieved and the scheme received planning permission in December 2015.
